App development

A mobile app that really deserves a spot on the home screen.

Not every business needs an app, and I’ll let you know if that applies to you, as a web application is usually cheaper. If it really is necessary: defining the scope, the design, a single codebase for iOS and Android, submitting to the App Store and Google Play, and then updates. One developer will oversee the entire process, so that decisions made last week never need to be explained all over again. iOS and Android receive a new platform version every year. Maintenance is included in the plan from day one and won’t catch you out with a surprise invoice.

Bespoke software and web applications

The system on which my business actually runs, rather than the spreadsheet it currently uses.

A booking system, a customer portal, the in-house tool that your spreadsheet is currently trying to replicate. There’s no off-the-shelf system that fits perfectly, so we tailor it to how your business already operates. Usually, it’s a web application: one browser for your desk, another for when you’re on the move, without having to install anything. Incidentally, there’s nothing wrong with that spreadsheet. If it’s grown that big, it must have been doing something right. ‘Laravel’ provides the foundation, so another software company could take it over without having to learn anything complicated. And if a standard product is sufficient, I’ll say so – even if it means I miss out on the contract.

I read what your agent produced. Then I say plainly what is safe to ship and what is not, with the reasoning attached to every call.
